If anyone else has played the game i'd like to hear your (spoiler free) thoughrs I just don't see the game spoken about enough and want to get it more attention. So those are my thoughts on this hidden gem. After a long hard day you might just want a fun world you can get lost in for an hour or two and this works perfectly. It's almost not as if the story itself is super important, but you become really invested into it because of how well done all of the characters are. But if you can handle shounen level writing, then it has a lot of charm. If you're looking for a super serious and mature themed JRPG, well then maybe look elsewhere. Bosses are pretty creative though, and the action RPG gameplay keeps you on your toes especially on the harder difficulties where learning how to dodge and maximize your damage output are a must.įinally the story is fun. The battles are enjoyable, if not a bit mashy. In between story segments I find myself easily sinking in 1 or 2 hours as I attempt to take care of everything the game offers. You can play minigames at the arcade, buy furniture for your room, do side quests, cook recipes, spend time with friends, upgrade weapons, as well as revisit old dungeons for better clear ratings. During your free time you explore Morimiya city which has tons of shops and things to see. The characters also really have me invested in their lives and I love checking up on them in my free time to see how each of their stories are coming along. Just counting the NPCs in the encyclopedia, there's over 80 individual characters all with unique storylines and constantly updating dialogue. I'm genuinely shocked to not see more discussion of this title in the JRPG community, especially since the game is easily available.įist off if you like Falcom's Trails style writing you will love this game. I'm just shy of 30 hours in and it has been one of the best JRPG experiences I've had in quite a long time. Seeing reviews were looking good, I gambled on it. I stumbled on Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ and had never heard of it. NameĪbout a month ago I had about $20 to spend on Steam and wanted a JRPG.
